It’s time for another (YDB) Daily Double – what’s happening in the world of blockchain, fintech, and cryptocurrencies today?

We’re only halfway through the week but already it’s looking like some of us may be popping Champaign bottles this weekend. Maybe I’m exaggerating a bit but hey – you have to admit, halfway through the week and we’re deep in the green on the major cryptos.

As you can see above; image taken this evening, BTC is trading around $10,400. It was trading around $7200 just last month. That’s a cool 44% increase in just over a month.

  • BTC is up just over 1% for the day.
  • ETH is up over 10% for the day.
  • XRP is up over a whopping 13% on the day.
  • LTC is up just under 6.5% on the day.

These are the types of numbers we can get used to here at YDB.

Blockchain Advocate Suspends Democratic Bid for 2020 Presidential Race

If Andrew Yang was “your guy” for President, you might not have had a very good evening last night given Yang has officially suspended his Democratic bid for the 2020 Presidential race, as reported by NPR.

For those not familiar with Andrew Yang; he was born in New York, is a father, husband, entrepreneur and also a staunch advocate for crypto and blockchain technologies and the regulation thereof.

Our U.S. Presidential election season is well underway, with the Iowa Caucuses just two weeks ago. Yang barely secured 1% of the vote, with similar results in the New Hampshire caucuses.

Yang’s official statement reads:

“While there is great work left to be done, you know, I am the math guy, and it is clear tonight from the numbers that we are not going to win this race […] I am not someone who wants to accept donations and support in a race that we will not win. And so tonight I am announcing I am suspending my campaign for president.”

For those diehard Yang supporters; you probably haven’t seen the last of him yet as he tweeted; “We’ll be back.”

It Should Be an Exciting Week Next Month as New York FinTech Approaches

No doubt, New York Fintech Week will be filled with the best and brightest in the world of blockchain, fintech and crypto as Empire Startups kicks off their annual fintech conference from March 30th – Aril 3rd.

I can’t wait to hear some of the summary reports on topics such as payment solutions, AI, public and private blockchains, lending, the unbanked, along with a whole host of other topics in the field of fintech.

As over 600 attendees begin to descend upon NY for a week packed full of demos, keynotes, networking parties, and what is sure to be the best of NYC fintech, here at YDB; we will undoubtedly be behind our desks reporting from afar on the daily happenings.

Tune in here daily for key updates and news from the conference.

That about wraps up another YDB, Daily Double for this fine Wednesday evening.

Till next time…
